Prayer letter

The Lord himself will go before you. He will be with you; 
He will not leave you or forget you. Don’t be afraid and 
don’t worry. (Deuteron­omy 31:8)

‘The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my sal­va­tion; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him’. (Exodus 15:2)

 Floods

This year severe floods have impacted Rwanda and Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique.The sever­ity of the flood­ing has caused wide­spread suf­fer­ing and dis­rup­tion. The­con­se­quence of the floods has been loss of land, crops and increased poverty. Some homes have been destroyed. Disease, espe­cially malaria and resur­gent covid, have affected people.

The fol­low­ing is part of a report received from Pastor Anas­tase in Rwanda who is the leader of PHARP, the organ­i­sa­tion in Rwanda with whom ohfi partners.

“Our country has known cat­a­strophic flood­ing and land slide which took many lives in dif­fer­ent parts espe­cially in North­ern and Western Provinces includ­ing  Rubavu, Ngororero , and Rutsiro Districts.
Over 130 people died and some entire fam­i­lies have com­pletely disappeared.There is a lot of suf­fer­ing and trauma for those who sur­vived as they are left with nothing.
Houses were washed away with every­thing inside.  People shel­tered in churches,schools and tents.”

— for favourable cli­matic con­di­tions in the months ahead allow­ing crops to be resown and to bear a good harvest

- for good gov­ern­ment and inter­na­tional help, be given to the victims of the floods so that they are able to re-estab­lish their lives with hope for their future.

- for the re-estab­lish­ment and success of our flood affected micro-enter­prise support projects in Rwanda and Zambia.

Chil­dren.

In the year ended 31st of March 2023 ohfi sup­ported, either directly or indi­rectly, almost 14,000 chil­dren in several coun­tries over­seas. The chil­dren and their fam­i­lies were involved in our various pro­grammes of edu­ca­tion, train­ing, social work, micro-enter­prise and prac­ti­cal help. This number of chil­dren was helped because of God’s grace and the prayer and finan­cial support which Ohfi has received from our sup­port­ers. Thank you so much.

Please Pray
— that all the chil­dren in our pro­grammes will grow up in an envi­ron­ment of love and secu­rity in which they receive good health care and education.

- that all the chil­dren will mature into young adults knowing that they are sons and daugh­ters of God and able to live lives of love, dignity and fulfilment.

- that the work of Ohfi and our part­ners will be a light to others leading them to God and the imple­men­ta­tion of pro­grammes that ensure good care and pro­tec­tion of their children.
